Nominal form details

Nominal feature

According to Goddard, the allomorph -éte (-ét in Leman's analysis) is used for stems that have inherited endings with post-consonantal semivowel contractions, although Goddard notes that this suffix has spread to many stems that didn't originally have the contraction.

Usage notes

The surface form is actually -ȯtse (and -ėstse), which can be arrived at through regular phonological rules (s-Epenthesis, h-s Assimilation, Penultimate Devoicing, e-Epenthesis, t-Assibilation).
